Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
